Earthquake Numbers Are Going UP and UP

In This Edition...

* Earthquake Increase

* World Disaster News in Brief.

* Special Price Reductions for Subscribers.

One of the most valuable resources for any professional newsletter is subscriber input.

This edition of Earth Change Report (Nov 07 08) therefore frames itself around the following email from Rick...it's about earthquakes...

“Hi Michael,

“Here are the earthquake sites I like, including the one that shows a weekly total."

“It averaged 135 a week when I started monitoring about a year ago.

“It went to 250-275 for a couple of weeks in March this year, then back to around 200 since then, but it went up over 400 about a week ago, weird. Enjoy” - Rick

Coincidentally, that is the exact site we used to illustrate the build-up in earthquake activity and tsunami potentials in the documentary “Contact Has Begun,” - and subsequently, that led to the establishment of this newsletter.

As Rick has noted, the weekly total for earthquakes suddenly jumped to 400, and that's just a few days ago.

So what can we expect? How will this affect us -all of us? What can we do, now that we know?

With the world's media full of the US election and economic problems it's easy to lose sight of the fact that the planet itself (which has been around much longer than we have) is undergoing its own serious problems.

Nice as it is to have US President-elect Barack Obama say we have “a planet in peril” and that he'll do what he can to address that issue, about all we can reasonably expect to see in that regard is ...once more... too little, too late.

Another Seismic Monitoring site
This image is from another site Rick uses - called IRIS, it is handled by a consortium of over 100 universities. It hosts the above seismic monitor that also keeps track of recent and historical earthquakes.

Earth Change Report makes no bones about it. Abrupt changes are upon us...and there's nothing more abrupt than an earthquake – which in turn can have devastating effects a great distance from its epicenter.

Further, when it comes to the whole gamut of earth changes, we need to know what the symptoms are, how serious things will become, and what we should do to prepare in advance.

As my grandfather used to say, “whether the weather is cold, or whether the weather is hot, we must weather the weather whatever the weather whether we like it or not.” (A sentiment we might apply to all sorts of earth changes).

Frankly, the whole idea of monumental, sudden and abrupt earth changes once caught me by surprise.

Actually, it was a shock, and I almost dismissed the evidence altogether – but curiosity got the better of me and what was at first a big stretch soon became acceptance of the fact that abrupt changes are indeed going to get even more severe in the next few years.

Using the word “abrupt” is not done simply to get your attention.

The point is this. Earth Change Report prefers to use reputable scientific sources in gathering information (but at the same time, may draw different conclusions or express a different point of view than that proffered by science).

The term “abrupt change” was in fact 'borrowed' from the scientific literature, and it gets some authoritative support from the eminent Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute which says “recent and rapidly advancing evidence demonstrates that Earth's climate repeatedly has shifted dramatically and in time spans as short as a decade. And abrupt climate change may be more likely in the future.”

In other words, we're in danger, right now. In fact I would suggest we are in the latter half of that decade (2012 being just around the corner) and we are heading very rapidly into an uncertain future of widespread – global - changes.

Atlantic Current
Everything from super hurricanes to earthquakes to tsunamis and droughts and volcanic eruptions – not to mention the melting Arctic and Greenland ice cap and the possible stalling of the Atlantic Current – is on the cards.

Therefore, the time to prepare, is now. Not next week, next month, next year or just before the next tsunami or earthquake hits.

Add to that the global economic situation, the possibility of losing one's job, and “preparedness” is the most important watchword of the moment. Money might indeed be in short supply for all of us before long – so it is imperative to use what we have now very wisely.

Aside from our personal money worries there is clear evidence that it's not just climate change we should be concerned about.

We should be really concerned about the much broader concept of “earth” changes. Earth changes that affect the entire world and all its people.

Don't expect to see this put so bluntly elsewhere – after all, most writers like to make friends and sugar coat the evidence by saying things like “maybe” or “possibly” - and even scientists put these real changes at arm's length by saying it might be 100 years before “it” happens.

But Earth Change Report says we should be ready for “it” to happen in the very near future.

Better to be prepared ten minutes early than ten minutes too late wouldn't you say?

Therefore these newsletters (and the associated ebooks and other products) are about presenting what's happening in Nature right now – and suggesting that you make some choices in terms of being prepared.

New subscribers come on board every day, and hopefully they make a point of checking out back issues and other articles on this web site. After all, a person does not want to be repeating the same things over and over.

In fact, it's best to stay in the present, see what's happening right now, and then – on the basis of that current evidence – make a conscious choice as to how one will prepare for the future. For some, this means a complete dislocation and relocation elsewhere – but, based on the available evidence, these are actually wise, albeit uncomfortable, decisions.

At the very least, a person should be stocking the pantry (food prices are guaranteed to start climbing substantially from now on), and even taking a cold hard look at where in the world one lives: is it safe? Is water – yes, water – going to be available long term? What are the chances of being hit by an unexpected earthquake....and so on.

Earthquake Stats for the 90s
Speaking of earthquakes and evidence, here's some current data from the US Geological Survey web site.

In the decade 1990 - 1999, the world experienced six earthquakes greater than 8.0 Magnitude, 14 'quakes between 7.0 and 7.9, and 1486 between 6.0 and 6.9.

In that time period, an estimated 114,646 people were killed in earthquakes.

Compare that to the eight years (not yet complete) from 2000 until now.

World EQ Stats 2000 - 2008
There have been 12 earthquakes between 8.0 and 8.9 (a 100% increase), 114 between 7.0 and 7.9, (an eightfold increase) and 1262 between 6.0 and 6.9.

Worse, the number of estimated earthquake-related deaths has skyrocketed to 463,774 over the past eight years (a fourfold increase compared to the previous 10) and that figure does not take into account the multitude of deaths by freezing, starvation or disease 'after' the 'quake has come and gone.

So what do these numbers tell us?

Well, imagine the “good old days” of telegraph. An operator would sit down in London and start punching a key that would send a signal vibrating through undersea cables across the Atlantic where it would be received by another operator who would write out the message as it came in.

Our planet is sending us a similar series of messages. It is “telegraphing” to us that she is going to have a big party, perhaps a very rough party, and we should get the message – and get ready.

Keep in mind that there is absolutely nothing Barack Obama, the United Nations or any government, aid group or individual can do to stop this obvious increase in the frequency and severity of natural disasters.

If anything, they will minimize the situation, dilute or edit the message, and suggest that everything is under control, all it will take to fix things is a lot of money, and we'll be back to 'situation normal' – maybe by 2050.

Four hundred and sixty three thousand people killed by earthquakes in eight years is NOT 'situation normal.'

Whether we call it climate change, global warming or earth changes, the situation we are currently in is definitely far from 'normal.' And it's getting worse.

Let's look at this week alone....

____________________

In Pakistan, aid agencies are warning that disease has begun to spread among tens of thousands of people who survived a 5.0 Magnitude 'quake last week that killed at least 300 people, flattened thousands of mud brick homes, and left 70,000 people homeless.....just as winter is coming on.

Hundreds of children are being treated for pneumonia, abdominal diseases, diarrhea and chest problems.

But earthquakes are not the only disaster stories of this week.

In China, “Unusually heavy rain that has pounded Yunnan province and the neighbouring Guangxi region has caused a series of landslides, affecting nearly one million people...”

Earth Changes Mind Matters ebook
It has probably slipped under most of the world news radar screens, but if you've read “Earth Changes – Mind Matters” (special offer coming up further on)...you've learned how serious things will become as sea levels rise around the globe.

This is not something that people in the Netherlands need to learn about. They already live below sea level, and this week 10,000 officials and rescue personnel have been engaged in a country-wide five-day exercise based on the idea of a future “doomsday flood.”

(See – we're talking about an entire nation being aware of what's coming – and doing something about it. That's certainly a rare example of political common sense...although if I lived in the Netherlands, I'd take common sense a big step further and seriously plan to move to a much safer part of the world...maybe the southern Pyrenees...).

At the other end of the world, New Zealand scientists are studying volcanic potential in and around New Zealand's biggest city, Auckland. New Zealand sits astride two tectonic plates, has experienced some very serious earthquakes, and it's only a matter of time before its volcanoes (one of them being a huge caldera which is now Lake Taupo) come to life again.

In Australia, drought is forcing fruit farmers out of the Goulburn Valley, while in Gippsland, which is experiencing its worst drought in 50 years, farmers are selling off stock – and they're happy to find buyers; 50 years ago, they had to simply shoot their suffering animals.

In Vietnam, more than 40,000 people have been evacuated from flooded areas of the capital, Hanoi. Eighty two people have been drowned there in the past few days.

Update Sunday Nov 09 08: And now, Vietnam is bracing for a typhoon that is expected to dump huge amounts of rain and flood even more vast areas of the country.

Reuters reports that “The 17th tropical depression of the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season formed on Wednesday and was expected to strengthen into a storm or perhaps even a hurricane on a path that could threaten the Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Cuba...

“Impoverished Haiti, which is recovering from the ravages of four storms that killed more than 800 people in August and September, is also in the potential path.”

(The storm has since strengthened to hurricane force and has been named Paloma)

Proof (if you need it) that you should be relying on yourself and not on any government emergency services comes from this story about earthquakes and tsunamis in Indonesia.Indonesia now has a tsunami early warning system – which will give the 800,000 people who live in Padang approximately 20 minutes to evacuate the city. ..if they ever get the warning. In an actual tsunami situation in 2006, politicians preferred to “avoid undue panic” and only sent warnings to some 400 officials. None were broadcast to the public. 600 people died.

Strangely, human nature can be quite irrational in a crisis. Apparently, even when warned that a tsunami might be on the way, instead of evacuating post haste, people rush down to the shore to see what the water is doing....

How To Survive Ebook
Hundreds of people have written in with questions about earth changes and what to do about it.

With my background in research and writing (since 1960) that resulted in the publication of the two ebooks, “Earth Changes – Mind Matters” and “How To Survive Earth Changes, Economic Depression and Martial Law.”

(Like it or not, believe it or not, martial Law can be imposed by any government for a variety of reasons; it can happen overnight, and those who are not prepared will find themselves in a whole different world).

The "How To..." book is really three books in one – and it's the first of two volumes that answer many subscriber questions.

It was written so that buyers would not have to spend a huge number of hours doing their own research (it's a great time saver) – and it includes such valuable things as a list of the foods that a family might stock up on to ensure self-sufficiency for a full year.

Strangely enough, there have been naive people write and say “if the world is in such danger you should give your books away for free.”

Well, actually, some have been gifted – and today, considering that the economy is going south everywhere which I think makes it imperative for people to benefit from this vital info...while actually saving money in the process, – the price of both books has been reduced - CUT IN HALF - from $19.95 to only $9.95 each.

Update Nov 15 08: This sale has concluded. The following links to the sales page still work, but the prices have been re-set at what is still a bargain - 25% off - or only $14.95 for each book. - MK)

"How To Survive Earth Changes, Economic Depression and Martial Law" is available ON THIS PAGE ONLY at $9.95.(Now $14.95). That's a major savings if you act right now.

"Earth Changes - Mind Matters" is available ON THIS PAGE ONLY at $9.95. (Now $14.95).

Buy Both and you get Two For The Price Of One.

"What this price reduction is intended to do is save buyers time (and money) by providing valid information about earth changes. ..all in one place.

This in turn has a way of reducing one's anxiety level while speeding up the process of getting ready for what's ahead.

Remember, we can't rely on warnings from our officials – they'll maybe warn and save each other – but in their strange way of thinking, it's better to let people die than create “undue panic”.

If you're a new subscriber, let me stress once again:- Earth Change Report is about scientific facts, verifiable information (as contained in these two books) and a genuine respect for your self-responsibility.

Switcheroo - to Letters from Subscribers:

Michael,

“I just want to thank you for the work you are doing. I am at work but I just felt it important to take just a few minutes to let you know how much I appreciate every bit of information.

“I just wanted to share a quick reflection from Chief Luther Standing Bear:

'There is a road in the hearts of all of us, hidden and seldom traveled, which leads to an unknown, secret place. The old people came literally to love the soil, and they sat or reclined on the ground with a feeling of being close to a mothering power.

'Their teepees were built upon the earth and their altars were made of earth. The soul was soothing, strengthening, cleansing and healing. That is why the old Indian still sits upon the earth instead of propping himself up and away from its life giving forces.

'For him, to sit or lie upon the ground is to be able to think more deeply and to feel more keenly. He can see more clearly into the mysteries of life and come closer in kinship to other lives about him.' "

“Mitakuye oyasin. (we are all related - meaning not just the two leggeds but to Mother Earth, the stone people, the bird people, the tree people – all).

You are indeed becoming a spiritual warrior - I lift you and your family up in my prayers. - Linda.

..................

Michael -

“I very much enjoyed you last BTO program, very pragmatic undramatic yet hopeful.” - Desiree

(“BTO” is the Internet “Beyond The Ordinary” radio program which I first appeared on in August, and then to my surprise they invited me back..... Interviews are archived here).
