Did you ever see your mother have a fit – or was she just one of those mothers who knew every line every mother knows when it comes to dealing with children?
Let's watch “The Mom Song” (it's brilliant) before we get down to the business of talking about The BIG Mom...Mother Earth (the one who is getting set to throw a HUGE fit).
But first...The Mom Song.
As most of us are well aware, Moms can get really ticked off if we don't clean up after ourselves.
Slovenly kids eventually try the patience of the most saintly mothers.
Yet having been present at a couple of child births I'd have to say that there is absolutely nothing like the connection, the bonding, the love a mother has for her offspring.
But how long would that last if we never stopped soiling the bed?
How about if we just threw up after every meal?
Or wrecked our toys and threw them in the garden?
What if we decided to kick holes in the walls to get at the timber inside to sell to the gang across the street?
How about inviting our nasty obnoxious friends over to throw darts at chickens, pull wings off flies, shoot birds with the BB gun and hot wire Mom's car to do handbrake turns on the back lawn? (That's fun until you gun it too hard and put a conrod through the block).
D'you think there'd come a point that Mom would give you a warning or two and say “Isn't it time you had a good look at your behavior?”
“From toxic trash in China to mountain-sized landfills in Michigan, the world is awash in waste,” says this Forbes article.
“The largest garbage dump in the world is roughly twice the size of the continental U.S.”
Earth Change Report wasn't the first to do so, but we mentioned this trash vortex several issues back – however you shouldn't be surprised that nothing has been done about it by anybody.
Some of the waste out there – and it must be getting into the millions of tons by now – comes (so I'm told) from a four-year refit of a US Navy vessel.
It was pretty much stripped and rebuilt – but none of the old stuff was ever taken off the ship....until it went to sea, and it was all dumped in the Pacific.
And that was just one ship. One refit.
What happens to the thousands of vessels that never get refitted?
Well, over on the coast of India, ships that are beyond refitting are being run ashore along a six mile stretch of beach and broken up by thousands of low-paid laborers.
You can actually see it for yourself in this Google Earth screen capture – one of these hulks looks like it might have been an aircraft carrier ... or was it a container ship?
And what were the others? Oil tankers? Container ships? Cruise liners? Fishing factory ships?
Let's think about this.
Recycling is said to be “good” for the planet.
However, when you break a ship apart you inevitably add even more pollution to the environment in the form of fuel oil for one thing.
And then there's asbestos and plastics that have to be disposed of.
How? Maybe they're buried, or burned. Either way, you're adding crap to the environment - the Mother Earth environment. And she doesn't like it. [You must admit that your mother (or wife) would be a little upset if she came home to see you changing the oil in your new enduro bike in the living room right? (Trust me, she would be)].
BUT WHAT IF YOU CAME HOME LOOKING LIKE THIS?
A person has to be devoid of hope and purpose to go to the extremes we see in these images – and you can almost place a certain bet on the fact that their bodies – especially the most mutilated ones – will find their own way out of such torture.
But if we cannot be in harmony with our own bodies, how can we possibly respect the earth itself?
How can we even begin to imagine that this planet has a spirit and a mind of its own when we have lost touch with ours - and care nothing for the Mother?
For most people, even in the so-called Super Power nations, life is in reality a daily struggle for survival – and as it is seen today, as the global economy turns to ashes, we are entering times which will be nothing short of desperate for millions of people.
Most people imagine that survival is all about having enough money. And so it has been for a while.
But what use is money when inflation has spiraled out of control and you have done nothing else to ensure your survival?
What should money have been used for in the first place?
(“Cigarettes and beer” I hear my own voice from the distant past whispering in my head. “And if you're feeling lucky you can spend some on that gorgeous chick over there...”).
Some thoughts should be disregarded. Some gorgeous chicks have very big boyfriends. Some big boyfriends can do lip piercing with your own teeth. (Trust me...).
Sidebar - A Preparedness Reality Check
At this point in writing this newsletter we had a power outage.
Interesting what you can learn about your state of preparedness when the power goes out.
Nice to have the candles on the table ready for Christmas. Good forward thinking to have a few little oil lamps hanging on the walls (empty of course, but at least we had oil in a bottle in the corner).
But why isn't the wood box full?
Weren't you told five days ago that the weather here is going to get colder than it has been in the past 19 years?
And you've only got five gallons of water in a bucket in the laundry (how is she going to flush)? - not to worry, we have that bucket with the toilet seat on it from Sunbirds.
But why are the propane tanks almost empty, and not hooked up to either the barbecue or the little camper stoves you got at that yard sale?
Thank goodness for the “one” flashlight with working batteries. It's an LED model and they last almost forever...but better still, if I can find my way through all the junk in the shed, I might be able to locate that self-priming shaker light...somewhere...).
Then the power comes on again and a person can see how much of his day's work has been salvaged by the computer.
Hmmm.
About half.
Piercing scream.
But it's never too late to wise up - get smart - get over the past and plan a better future.
By "obviously" I mean gun sales are up in the USA, job losses are up, foreclosures are up, and it's the same around the world.
Things just ain't what they used to be.
So don't be surprised to see squatters taking over empty houses and abandoned malls in the next few months.
Survival is going to be more about food than money, more about water than gasoline - more about basic shelter from the storm than about having a King Size house on a dwarf size lot with a King Size mortgage and a dwarf size income.
"Making Israeli children cower in concrete shelters is not 'resistance.'
"But nor can one justify the policy of keeping 1.5 million Palestinians on life support and then turning the ventilator off from time to time.”
Looks like Gaza has become a concentration camp = concentrated hatred. And we're supposed to believe all those involved want peace? If so, maybe they should take lessons from primates. You don't see gorillas and monkeys murdering each other do you?
So what is a Mother to do? Well she's already doing it. Right under our feet. And there is much more to come in the way of earth changes between now and 2012.
Talking of water, did you catch the Earth Change Report feature last week about the South African scientist who got canned because he pointed out that his country has allocated at least 98 per cent of available water already – and most of that is contaminated.
Who ruined it? Well, we did – because our lust for gold and minerals require that we use arsenic and other toxins in the mining process...and those poisons just don't go away real soon.
In fact, when you add in all the residue of the drugs people take and pass into the sewers that become our recycled city water...it's enough to make you barf. We humans are drinking a concoction that simply must have either "un" or "in"-tended consequences.
Al Jazeera is one of several news agencies reporting that: "Zimbabwe's information minister has blamed the British government for a cholera outbreak which has killed almost 800 people, claiming his country has been a victim of a 'biological' attack."
Obviously that's likely to sound like a preposterous claim from an embattled president faced with at least 800 cholera deaths and a failed economy - not to mention broken sewer lines and widely contaminated festering wells.
But biological and chemical weapons are as old as war itself - and they have been used extensively by those who plan to take over the world's resources in any way possible.
Whether it's because of toxic waste from mining operations, or city waste from a gazillion people, or the putrid output of industrial plants around the globe, the water we rely on is becoming dangerously contaminated.
And it's now flowing through all that body-piercing we've been doing to the planet and mixing with what was once the pure ground water that was supposed to keep us – and many other species – from going extinct.
While it's patently obvious that since they invented Fosters beer and gave up drinking water Australian men have evolved to the point that they have become an entirely new species (picture at right) the outlook is not so great elsewhere.
In case you haven't considered it, scientists are constantly telling us that many of the world's plant and animal species are in danger of extinction.
Do you ever wonder where we fit on the endangered species list?
Or do you think we humans are going to get special treatment from the mother of all creatures – Mother Earth, Mother Nature.
Why should we?
Momma Earth is tired of having her skin pierced.
Tired of having garbage smeared all over.
Tired of being tattooed with highways and asphyxiated by automobile and aviation gas and other pollutants in the air she needs to breathe.
Her bloodstream (oil) is being sucked out of her.
Festering sores (nuclear dumps, landfills, ocean debris) are ravaging what was once a beautiful skin, and her bones are at risk because of nuclear explosions, weird electromagnetic war weapons, and the stress associated with trying to keep her balance as she spins like a top through space.
She's out of balance....because we are out of balance.
The children have run amuck, (frenzied – out of control) and like any mother forced to deal with uncontrollable kids, she is fed up.
So who do you think will win in a confrontation between an angry Mom and an arrogant child?
Not that she's stopped loving her children – after all, every life form on this earth depends on her for sustenance. But now, she needs to fight for her own survival.
And if that means that some of the kids are going to have to find new homes (maybe in a next lifetime) then that's how it is.
It wasn't until I directed the documentary "Contact Has Begun" a couple of years ago that I really woke up to the fact that we humans really are a fragile bunch - and that extinction level events have wiped out civilizations in the past.
So what's to stop it happening again?
Better yet, what's to stop us fragile little people from using our minds sensibly and preparing to get through it all?
Mother Nature has seen living organisms come and go almost forever, and it is SHE who has given them birth, succored them, watched over them as they played their childish games.
Nevertheless she knows that physical life forms come and go - that human souls and spirits also come and go - and that their bodies are but a housing for a lifetime.
Dead bodies do not mean the end of life (at least, as seen from Mother Earth's perspective) - so as unpalatable as the fact might be, it is a fact.....As far as Mother Earth is concerned, unless we straighten up and fly right, get real and make some life changing decisions, you and I are expendable.
They terraformed the planet (which would include cutting channels for the Nile and Euphrates Rivers) “created humans through genetic engineering, then left to allow us to get on with our own evolution.”
Seems like that evolution word is misspelled. There's a “d” missing from the front of it.
Believe what you wish about terraforming by Ets, but those who have studied the evidence tell us there have been world wide cataclysms in the past and entire civilizations have disappeared virtually overnight because of some natural disaster.
So what makes us think we're so special that all we have to do is imagine that we'll be in the right place at the right time – then go on living on a fault line or a coast line or in a city with no food supply line....?
Mother Nature has exterminated civilizations before....in fact she kills hundreds and thousands of people every day in floods, snow storms, avalanches, tornadoes, rogue waves, heat waves, droughts and fires and plagues and disease....and that doesn't include the natural demise of the elderly.
But like a Good Mom...she's warning us. She's saying "Things are going to get worse. So wake up – get out of bed – go to work."
Therefore, if we have the intestinal fortitude to be humble enough to recognise the signals - to accept that time is running out - to acknowledge that we are indeed living in "interesting" times... each of us must, if we don't want to get thumped at best (or 'under'-grounded at worst) because of our ignorant self-indulgence, we must make some serious personal decisions. (One would be to ignore this altogether – which of course you are at liberty to do).
That's why they were written – because aside from the social and political turmoil that is enveloping the world at present - we really are in an unprecedented era of Earth Changes.
These books explain much about how the earth is changing, and what we might do to ensure that we are still here when The Mom gets over her fit and starts singing again.
