Haiti Earthquake Update January 13, 2010 |
Greetings
It's a terrible thing to imagine the shock and fear that must have been felt by the over five million people affected by yesterday's 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Haiti. The ground rolled and shook for up to a minute, sending homes crashing into ravines and destroying an uncounted number of buildings.
There's no way to know at this time how many are dead or injured, lying in the rubble awaiting rescue - which may well come too late. Haiti sits on the boundary between the Caribbean and North American tectonic plates which released energy equivalent to many atomic bombs in the worst earthquake to hit the region in 200 years. (A Magnitude 7.0 is equal to 25 nuclear bombs or 475,000 tons of TNT). In the capital alone, the presidential palace, parliament building, a hospital, and the local United Nations headquarters are said to have collapsed, killing many and trapping even more inside. And the devastation may not be over yet. In the following hours there were at least 40 aftershocks, 14 of them measuring between 5.0 and 5.9. Magnitudes are given on a logarithmic scale, so a 7.0-magnitude earthquake would release 10 times as much energy as a 6.0. As tragic as it is, this latest earthquake in Haiti underscores the fact that these events are on the increase and can be expected to happen in the most unexpected places from here on.
The evidence for this comes from the US Geological Survey site which monitors earthquakes around the world in real time, and produces maps and graphs that clearly show the bigger earthquakes are increasing in numbers all the time. During the 30 years from 1980 to 2009 there were 23 earthquakes of Magnitude 8.0 or above - but the significant thing is that well over half of them happened in the last 10 years. Those between 6.0 and 6.9 jumped from the 1980/89 decade figure of 980 such earthquakes to 1462 in the last decade. More disturbing yet is the fact that aside from the Haiti 7.2, in less than two weeks we have seen a Magnitude 6.5 offshore of Northern California (January 10), a Magnitude 6.8 in the Solomon Islands (January 05) preceded by a 7.2 and a 6.6 in the same area on January 03, plus a 5.9 In Baja California on December 30 2009.
Perhaps it's time to take a serious look inside the e-book, "How To Survive Earth Changes..." - because it was written with these things in mind. It'll give you a much better understanding of what's going on with this planet, and what we must do do to prepare for these events. More importantly, we want to get through them...don't we? Therefore, what we need to start with is the sort of information that we are denied by the Mainstream Media. They are only interested in toeing the party line and pretending that everything is hunky dory. It isn't. Help Yourself. Here's something you can do for yourself this year. If you're waking up to the fact that the earth itself is going into convulsions, and they're only going to get worse, you should seriously consider buying Basic Preparedness" - it's where to start on this whole journey of self-sufficient living. Being prepared for something as simple as a power outage (for days at a time in sub-zero temperatures maybe) will also have you prepared in advance for other things. New Earth Alerts Meanwhile....have you also thought of trying the "other" newsletter? New Earth Alerts is where the deeper and more specific information about what's up and what's coming up can be found. Prophecies and forecasts for 2010 and beyond. That sort of thing. Subscribe now - try it free for a month - and see what you think. It just might make a huge difference to your state of knowledge, and your peace of mind about the future. It's called "New Earth" because when the changes are over, that's what we'll be living in. And that's where we'll finally have that peace and prosperity for all. But first we have to get there, and "New Earth Alerts" is about exactly that.
