There was a time when I thought that a job as a journalist on The Times (the London one) would be the epitome of my career.

Then one day I found myself walking past the front entrance of The Times in London. It was a nondescript old stone building and yet it seemed to exude its own aura of self importance.

The best way to get over that is to get out of the mainstream media, become completely independent (and virtually unknown) and focus on using your skills as a writer and director to provide interested people with information they can use.

The thought (and we hope it is an honest and humble one) is that there must be millions of people who are sick and tired of the mainstream sameness. Some, perhaps only a few, of those millions, are interested in things the mainstream seldom touches.Things like truth.

Now imagine you suddenly have - quite out of the blue - an opportunity to help make a documentary. You have no idea at the time that it will eventually be seen by tens of thousands of people - or that it will spawn an increasingly popular newsletter called Earth Change Report.

Information, that's what. Mind-expanding and sometimes mind bending information.

That's why in this newsletter I'm going back to Earth Change Report's roots - those roots being the documentary.

The documentary, "Contact Has Begun," is becoming an internet phenomenon - and in turn generating world-wide interest and debate about a wide range of issues.

One in particular that is bending people's minds (and perhaps yours) is the undeniable presence of UFOs.

We included considerable footage of strange craft that James Gilliland had filmed over the years - only to find the subject being treated with derision in some quarters and total disbelief in others.

With encouragement from some of their more open-minded members, some of the principles of the Above Top Secret (ATS) forum decided to make a trip to James' ranch to see - and film - for themselves.

Adding further celebrity status to the venture was none other than Robbie Williams.

They took high tech equipment with them, including infra-red lenses for filming both day and night.

Guess what! They caught the best footage I've ever seen of anomalous activity. Lights on the mountain for one thing (we already included that). Overhead craft that were not any known satellite (they had their NASA satellite orbit charts).

AND, most incredible of all, a high speed blurry thing that flashed across a large field in daylight - which they caught using an infra red lens on a camera that had been left standing on a tripod in continuous recording mode.

There's also an interview with James Gilliland on ATS - and with Producer John Savage who talks about seeing a power up.

So it is with no sense of self importance, but just a little self satisfaction, that I say that the producer (John Savage) and I, already knew that James was telling the truth about high flying UFOs doing "power ups." We saw them ourselves.

Those in the undecided zone insist they are all iridium flares - and some of them might be. But some of the ones we saw on our research trip were definitely out of the ordinary.

Let's hope that you are too. You'd have to be, to wonder what these craft are, who is flying them, why they are here, and what role they might play in our future.

What ATS and its members have not yet come to grips with is that there is much much more in the DVD (which they've all seen) than just UFOs.

We shot it in High Definition, made a DVD that plays anywhere in the world, and covered a range of subjects - thanks to James - from past ET visits to Earth, to dead zones in the oceans, to our warmongering ways, to cover-ups, Near Death Experiences, and the incredible potential that you as a human being have lying within your DNA.

I don't think The Times would ever have allowed me to investigate and write about such matters.

While I claim that it is "a book for everybody," that might be stretching it a bit. Not everybody is ready to learn about what science is telling us, warning us, almost pleading with us to understand - and that is that every day that passes brings us closer to unpredictable catastrophes.

Naturally enough, you might say "scaremongering" - but you'd be wrong. Perhaps dead wrong.

Anyway, I didn't write the book for the critics. I wrote it for those who can think for themselves, who want information that is sound and solid, and who want to really do something to improve their lives and their future.

You can't make good decisions if all you have is bad intel - or a closed mind - or a stubborn inflexible dismissive attitude to unusual information.

But let's keep it simple. The book will give you an eyes-wide-open insight into the causes of the political and economic turmoil that we are bedevilled by.

It'll make you think hard about your future - about surviving just 'ordinary' natural disasters.

And it will reveal the secret behind "The Secret" - courtesy of some fabulous speakers at the latest conference at James' Trout Lake sanctuary.

Hurricane Ike plowed into Texas early today, driving the Gulf of Mexico's waters into Galveston Island, blowing out office-building windows and cutting power to at least 4.5 million people in the Houston area.

"The Category 2 storm flooded many areas, shut oil refineries and prompted panicked calls from residents who didn't join the 1 million-strong exodus from its path.

Houston's 75-story JPMorgan Chase Tower had windows on its west side smashed out....winds were blowing as high as 130 mph above the 10th floor of buildings in downtown Houston.

"The storm has closed 19 percent of the refining capacity in the U.S. At least 13 refineries in Texas shut down."

As Ike moves inland and weakens, it may nevertheless spawn tornadoes. "The threat area with Ike will be centered on Louisiana and as far north as Missouri this afternoon and into tonight."

"Haiti, Cuba, Jamaica, the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos islands have all felt the fury of storms Gustav, Hanna and Ike which claimed hundreds of lives, destroyed homes and caused millions of dollars in damage to infrastructure within the last month.

"Haiti, the Caribbean's poorest nation, was hardest hit, with extensive flooding causing the deaths of hundreds of people."

Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit the eastern Indonesian island of Maluku this (Saturday) morning.

No reports of damage, and no tsunami - but it was the second to hit the eastern Indonesian islands this week. A powerful 7.6 magnitude quake struck off Halmahera island in North Maluku province on Thursday.

Meanwhile a swarm of earthquakes continues off British Columbia's Vancouver Island. A magnitude 4.6 earthquake shook the sea floor off the west coast of Vancouver Island on Friday... the latest in a series of tremors that began in late August."

"Of the nearly 300 schools in the province (British Columbia) considered to be at highest risk in the event of an earthquake, only 14 have had repairs completed."

"Authorities fighting floods in Bihar urged thousands of villagers to leave their homes on Saturday after rains caused flood waters to rise.

"More than four million people fled their homes after the Kosi river, which originates in Nepal, burst a dam last month and unleashed water downstream in Bihar.

"Millions were forced to live on embankments, roads and in overcrowded camps in filthy conditions, making them vulnerable to infections and water-borne diseases in the absence of drinking water..."

Tsunami Aftermath - Still Homeless Four Years On

New disasters strike so frequently these days that we hear little about the ongoing consequences of the older ones.

"A Housing Relocation Committee member in Solomon Islands’ Gizo, says MP, Gordon Darcey Lilo, is withholding funds earmarked for the 2004 tsunami victims.

"It’s estimated that eighty percent, or about 3000 tsunami victims in Gizo are still sleeping in tents."

The money is still sitting in the government Treasury. That's odd...how much interest could you get on several million dollars in four years?
